PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side stand device for a motorcycle which is simple in structure and light in weight, and capable of setting and locking a stand body across a motorcycle body. SOLUTION: The side stand device for the motorcycle comprises a stand body 1 having a ground contact face 22 on its lower end, a mounting bracket 3 for mounting the stand body 1 to a body side, and a pivotally supporting member 35 to pivotally support the stand body 1 to the mounting bracket 3 so as to be turnable. A first contact face 8 in contact with the mounting bracket side is formed on the stand body 1, a second contact face 3F in contact with the first contact face 8 is formed on the mounting bracket 3, and pivotally supporting holes 10, 24 for allowing a pivotally supporting portion of the pivotally supporting member are formed at the first contact face 8 and the second contact face 3F. One of the first and second contact faces is formed of a projecting face 1P, and a free space in the radial direction is formed at one end in the axial direction of the pivotally supporting part 37 or the hole distal direction of the pivotally supporting holes 10, 24.
