DISPLAY SUBSTRATE AND DISPLAY APPARATUS HAVING THE SAME

A display substrate and a display device including the same are provided to enhance control of a liquid crystal director to prevent an instant afterimage from being generated. An array layer including a switching device is formed on a base substrate. A pixel electrode(PE) includes a plurality of sub-electrodes and connecting portions for connecting the sub-electrodes formed on the array layer. The pixel electrode is electrically connected to the switching device. A passivation layer(130) is formed between the array layer and the pixel electrode and includes grooves formed corresponding to the connecting portions. Each of the sub-electrodes includes a rounded edge of a tetragonal shape. The pixel electrode includes a second sub-electrode(144b) connected to a first sub-electrode(144a) through a first connecting portion(146a) and a third sub-electrode(144c) connected to the second sub-electrode through a second connecting portion(146b). The passivation layer includes a contact hole(CNT) which electrically connects the switching device to the pixel electrode.
