摘要 The electrons follow a helical trajectory (3) in the direction (z) of the magnetic field (B) midway between two concave mirrors (1,2) sepd. by a distance (d) in the y direction to form a quasi-optical open resonator, within which an AC e.m. field interacts with the helical beam of electrons. The radii (Rx,Rz) of the mirrors (1,2) in the two orthogonal directions are chosen with unequal values so that an optimised field pattern is established along the beam for more effective interaction. The departure from spehericity may be a quadratic function of distance along the z axis. USE/ADVNATAGE - Generation of millimetric waves. Substantial increase in efficiency of interactin is obtd. esp. when two mirrors have different radii of curvature in z direction. 85pp
