A circuit breaker is provided to prevent an arc gas from permeating into a load side and prevent a partition from being damaged due to an increase of an inner pressure. A fixing contact point is formed on a fixing contactor(3). A movable contact point contacted with the fixing contact point is formed on a movable contactor(5). A holder(9) movably supports the movable contactor. An extinguishing chamber(6) removes an arc generated between the fixing and movable contact points. An open/close unit(4) drives the movable contactor. An excessive current absorbing unit(15) detects an excessive current and drives an absorbing member. A lead line(13) is connected to the movable contactor. A case(1) contains the movable and fixing contactors, the holder, and the extinguishing chamber. A cover is attached on the case. A connection plate(14) separates a circuit breaking unit from a load side and couples the lead line wit the excessive current absorbing unit. The fixing and movable contactors and the extinguishing chamber are included in the circuit breaking unit. The open/close unit and the excessive current absorbing unit are included in the load side.
