PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a mechanism that precise density correction is made compatible with alignment adjustment while sharing a sensor array.

SOLUTION: The drive content of the sensor array for test pattern detection is switched according to each of the density correction processing in which the density of an image to be formed by an image forming device is corrected and the alignment adjustment processing in which the alignment of the position of image formation is adjusted. Thereby independently obtaining sensing results of resolution and gradation, which are optimum to each processing.
