A broadcasting receiver and a method for performing an Internet shortcut function are provided to perform the Internet shortcut function through only operation of a remote controller, by mapping a predetermined button of the remote controller to a shortcut button to a predetermined URL(Uniform Resource Locator). A memory(103) stores a mapping table where a predetermined button of a remote controller is mapped to a shortcut button to a predetermined URL. A network interface unit(113) accesses an internet server of the URL to receive and output a web document in response to a predetermined control command. When the shortcut button is operated, a controller(130) extracts the URL mapped the shortcut button, outputs the control command including the extracted URL information, and receives and outputs the web document from the network interface unit(113). A graphic process unit(109) generates and outputs an image signal corresponding to the web document outputted from the controller(130).
