FIELD: organic chemistry, natural compounds, chemical technology, medicine. ^ SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a novel method for synthesis of 3beta-acetoxy-20-oxonortaraxastane. Method involves interaction of chloroform extract prepared from plant Scotch thistle (Onopordum acanthium L.) flower receptacles comprising 3beta-acetoxy-20-methylenetaraxastane with ozone excess in the mole ratio 3beta-acetoxy-20-methylenetaraxastane : ozone = 1:1.5 at room temperature and stirring.
