A method for preventing a pickup from being damaged due to oscillation of an actuator in an optical disc recording/playing system is provided to improve recording quality by stabilizing a servo in the oscillation of the actuator. A method for preventing a pickup from being damaged due to oscillation of an actuator in an optical disc recording/playing system includes a step of starting adjusting a servo when an optical disc is inserted into a loader, and computing average voltage given to an actuator coil(S202,S204,S208); a step of setting limit voltage at a regular ratio, which is higher than the average voltage, on the basis of the average voltage for the actuator coil(S210); a step of checking whether the voltage is over the limit voltage by monitoring the voltage given to the actuator coil, continually in a play-back operation of the optical disc(S212,S214); and a step of preventing the oscillation of the actuator by blocking the voltage given to the actuator coil, when excessive voltage over the limit voltage is applied to the actuator coil(S222).
