<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of measuring highly accurate gain characteristics G(f), and a method of measuring relative intensity noise RIN(f), etc. <P>SOLUTION: The method of measuring the gain characteristics of the relative intensity noise measuring apparatus for converting light to be measured to a light receiving current, and analyzing the relative intensity noise included in the light to be measured comprises: a step of supplying light from a light source; a step of generating a plurality of amplified or attenuated lights for which the light of the light source is amplified or attenuated by different light amplification or attenuation rates; a step of measuring the current amount of the light receiving current for which the amplified or attenuated light is converted, and the frequency distributions of the intensity of the light receiving current for which the amplified or attenuated light is converted in the relative intensity noise measuring apparatus for each of the plurality of amplified or attenuated light; and a step of obtaining the gain characteristics from a plurality of measured combinations of current amounts and frequency distributions. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
