The container for storing cryogenic liquid media at atmospheric pressure is assembled from sections (17) which in each case consist of an inner layer construction of a primary barrier layer (2.1), a primary insulating layer (2.2), a secondary barrier layer (3.1) and also an outer support structure (4), wherein the inner layer construction consists of sandwich-like composite panels (1). The barrier layers of adjacent composite panels are interconnected with sealing effect. An independent claim is included for a method for producing containers for storing cryogenic liquid media at atmospheric pressure.
