PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device and a recording method enabling proper costs and recording in a processing load even if exceeding the upper limit of a recording standard, and to provide a program and a recording medium. SOLUTION: A CPU 118 determines whether the number of recording contents exceeds a prescribed limit in a moving image recording mode. When the number of recording contents exceeds the prescribed limit, the CPU 118 displays the excess of the number of recording contents for changing to a still image recording mode.
