PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an easily assemblable sliding door device with a good appearance in terms of design, and an assembling method for the sliding door device. SOLUTION: In a storage type sliding door device in which a front door 4 can be housed in a back door 5, an upper frame 9, which has a protrusion 9a having a door end side protruded with respect to the width of the back door, is arranged in the upper part of the back door 5; a slit N, which allows the movement of a bracket 7b for a rear sash roller of the front door 4 in the advancing direction of a sliding door, is provided in the top surface of the upper frame 9; and a notched part M, which communicates with the slit N and into which the bracket 7b attached to the front door 4 can be inserted from the front, is formed in the protrusion 9a.
