摘要 [PROBLEMS] To provide a composite material comprising a thermoplastic resin and a plant fiber, which is improved in mechanical properties such as tensile strength and bending strength, which has mechanical strength such as impact resistance and elongation at break improved to the same level as those of a thermoplastic resin containing no plant fiber, and which has a good balance among mechanical properties. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A thermoplastic resin is mixed with a plant fiber comprising a component such as cellulose and lignin (e.g., a fiber from a bamboo or the like) and an isocyanate resin, and the mixture is kneaded while heating. The thermoplastic resin is preferably a biodegradable resin.In this case, the resin preferably has a functional group selected from a hydroxyl group, a carboxyl group and an amino group. Alternatively, the thermoplastic resin may be one which can be modified with a polybasic acid anhydride (i.e., a polyolefin thermoplastic resin, a polystyrene thermoplastic resin, or a copolymer of these resins). In this case, the thermoplastic resin is mixed with a plant fiber, an isocyanate resin, a polybasic acid anhydride and an organic peroxide, and the mixture is kneaded while heating.
