<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology by which even when all video images of one frame are missed due to a data error caused by a transmission error or the like, the missing video images is compensated satisfactorily, a high quality video image thereby can be displayed. <P>SOLUTION: This video image display device is provided with a decoding part (3) for decoding an encoded bit stream (1), an interpolation video image generating part (4) for generating an interpolation frame from a frame of a decoded video image signal, and a control part (5) for detecting an error of the encoded bit stream and controlling the interpolation video image generating part (4).
