To repair a cut in a tyre wall, a hole is made therein tapering from the radially outer to the radially inner surface as shown in Fig. 2, or from either surface to the middle of the wall in the case of a thicker tyre, Fig. 3, the old rubber and damaged carcass removed therefrom are replaced by uncured rubber containing a proportion of filamentary material whose length is between 3/8 inch and 1 inch, and the repair is vulcanized. The filamentary material, such as flock nylon or filaments of polyester or wire, may be comprised in rubber plies 13, 14, Fig. 2, which may be provided to line the walls of the hole, and additionally or alternatively in the radially inner half 15 of the repair rubber filling the hole. |
