PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide roller which can prevent propagation of vibration caused in a running tape. SOLUTION: The guide roller 18 with a groove for guiding a running magnetic tape MT, has a circumferential plane 18b in contact with the running magnetic tape MT, and a roller main body 18a freely rotating around a shaft, and a recessed groove 18d is formed at the circumferential plane 18a around the shaft of the roller main body 18a.
