An apparatus and a method for the examination of a pulse are provided to reduce the time and cost for the diagnosis of a disease by easily and accurately diagnosing the attack of the disease without the help of an instrument. An apparatus(100) for the examination of a pulse includes a memory unit(36), a display unit(34), and a control device unit(30). The memory unit has a comparison table which is divided into a right hand and a left hand, and is subdivided into a Chon part, a Gwan part, and a Cheok part. Each of the Chon, Gwan, and Cheok parts is divided into two groups. The control device unit determines the attack of a disease by using the pulse rate of the Chon, Gwan, and Cheok parts, determines the corresponding group in case of the attack of the disease by using a common number and the rest numbers, obtains the specific name of the disease by using the maximum value and the minimum value of the corresponding group and the comparison table, and controls the result of examination of the pulse to be displayed on the display unit.
