PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a porous carbon electrode used for an electrolytic cell capable of efficiently electrochemically sterilizing microorganisms existing in a water such as drinking water, various treating water in a food field, domestic water and industrial water. SOLUTION: The porous carbon electrode for water treatment is composed of the porous carbon material in which a fibrous carbon and a carbide of an org. binder are connected integrally and provided with a crystalline property of <=0.35 nm average interval of d002 between lattice feces of a graphite hexagonal net face layer and >=2.5 nm crystal size of Lc (002) and having a pore property of 25-125 μm pore mode diameter and 30-75% porosity. The fibrous carbon in obtained preferably by burning and carbonizing a material obtained by binding or coating a mixture of a rayon pulp and a conifer pulp with an org. binder, and a thermosetting resin is used as the org. binder. |
