PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a conveyor belt from being contaminated caused by ink droplets by avoiding delivering the ink droplets at a part where the printing medium does not exist to a print medium having a length in the carrying direction shorter than a set length. SOLUTION: A sheet feeding sensor 22 is arranged as a printing medium sensor on the upstream side of an inkjet head 11 in the carrying direction of the printing medium, and the sheet feeding sensor 22 detects the time required for passing a printing medium 2 from the front end part to the rear end thereof using a timer. The value of that timer is compared with a predetermined value (predetermined time) corresponding to the length of the printing medium 2 in the carrying direction which is set at the time of printing processing. If the time required for passage is shorter than the predetermined time, a decision is made that the length of the printing medium 2 in the carrying direction is shorter than the length of the printing medium 2 in the carrying direction which is set at the time of printing processing, and the printing processing is stopped.
