Monochrome images are detecting by analysing the skew of the statistical distribution of colour difference values of pixels. A skew parameter may be derived from an upper percentile, a lower percentile and a median value of the statistical distribution of colour difference values and colour may be detected when the said skew parameter exceeds a threshold. Detection of monochrome images may find use in image classification in a library or in the monitoring and control of broadcasting for example. |
