<p>A method of joining members, where a second member can be firmly joined to a first member constructed from a tubular body such as a pipe. First, the following elements are prepared: the first member (1) constructed from a tubular body having a polygon shaped cross section and a hollow section (3), the second member (5) having an insertion hole (6) with a cross sectional shape corresponding to the cross sectional shape of the first member (1), and split bodies (11) circumferentially split into multiple pieces, at positions corresponding to flat wall sections (1a) of the first member (1). Then, the first member (1) is inserted into the insertion hole (6) of the second member (5), and the split bodies (11) are placed in the hollow section (3) of the first member (1). After that, each segment (11a) of the split bodies (11) is moved radially outward of the first member (1), toward its each corner (1b). As a result, sections (2a) where the first member (1) is inserted in the insertion hole (6) and sections (2b, 2b) near axially both sides of the insertion sections (2a) are expanded to join the first member (1) and the second member (5).</p> |
