PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provider a screw extruder for a thermoplastic material capable of changing the flow rate etc., of the thermoplastic material appropriately without using a plate member. SOLUTION: In the screw extruder for the thermoplastic material, cone screw shafts 20B are inserted rotatably into cylindrical housings 21A and 21B having cone inner peripheral surfaces e2, and the collected small piece-shaped thermoplastic material charged into the cylindrical housings 21A and 21B is sent forward by the screw-feeding action of the screw shafts 20B. In each proper interval place in the peripheral direction of the cone inner peripheral surface e2, an approximately forward/backward projection c6 with its height ranging from the cone inner peripheral surface e2 toward the center side gradually decreased is formed, and a front/back position change adjustment means 30 changes the flow rate of the thermoplastic material in the cylindrical housings 21A and 21B by changing the relative positions in the cross direction of the cone screw shaft 20B and the cone inner peripheral surface e2 is formed.
