<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an extra length absorbing device, small in number of parts and compact, that is capable of absorbing not only any extra length of a wiring harness in an adjusting mechanism of a steering device or door opening/closing operation, but also any extra length of a wiring harness required when the wiring harness is assembled, and prevents troubles during use. <P>SOLUTION: The extra length absorbing device includes: a supporting body having a clamp and a hinge, and a bending control member provided in a position in parallel with the hinge in the supporting body. The supporting body arrests the wiring harness, together with the clamp, so that the harness can be freely moved in the longitudinal direction of the harness, and is opened and closed through the hinge.
