PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotation angle detector capable of rapidly detecting the abnormality of an angle sensor, without causing a rotating body to rotate. SOLUTION: Supplying and shutting off of a power supply are carried out on a first angle sensor 2 and a second angle sensor 4, alternately. A signal Vo1 or a signal Vo2, amplified by a first signal amplifier 3 or a second signal amplifier 5 which is output from the first angle sensor 2 or the second angle sensor 4, is compared with the signal Vo1 or the signal Vo2, in a state which no abnormality due to short-circuiting or the like is exists among the wirings; then it decides whether there are abnormalities, such as short-circuiting or the like among the wirings. As a result, an operation part 6 can immediately detect the abnormality, such as short-circuiting or the like, by only applying the power supply to the first angle sensor 2 or the second angle sensor 4. Furthermore, abnormality in the rotation angle detector 1 can be detected, before a steering handle connected with a steering shaft of a vehicle is operated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
