The pipe system for pumping cement is made up of abrasion resistant pipes (16). A connector ring (18') is fitted on the pipe which has an inner cone (38) which presses on to its outer end. The gap between the inner section (34) of the ring and the outer wall of the pipe is then filled with sealant. An independent claim is included for a method for assembling the pipe system.
