A method for tracking a message and a system thereof are provided to provide information on a location where a message or content is positioned on a mobile communication network, a contents or message transmission result for a content or message transmitter. A system for tracking a message comprises a message transmitting server(300) and a tracking server(400). The message transmitting server(300) determines whether a certain indication for position tracking is included in a message of which transmission is requested from a sending terminal over the mobile communication network, and transmits the determining result to a receipt side switching center or the tracking server(400). The tracking server(400) registers information on transmission and receipt of the position tracking message received from the message transmitting server(300), records a transmission result of the message provided by the receipt side switching center matched with the receipt information, and selectively provides the recorded transmission result for the sending terminal.
