A plasma display apparatus and a driving method thereof are provided to effectively remove image sticking by compensating slope differences in brightness reduction of color phosphors due to long time displaying. A plasma display apparatus includes a plasma display panel, a history detection unit(51), and an arithmetic unit(52). The plasma display panel includes plural unit pixels, which are formed with at least two discharge cells for displaying respective colors. The history detection unit detects respective color data related to history of the discharge cells. The arithmetic unit receives data about on/off history of the detected respective discharge cells, varies the respective color data so as to equalize slopes of brightness decrease rates on respective colors of the respective discharge cells, and outputs the varied color data.
