PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video recording system including a set-top box and a video recording apparatus that can more simply establish setting of video recording reservation. SOLUTION: The video recording system is configured by combining a video tape recorder 3 with a television receiver 1 for receiving a video signal via the set-top box 2. The apparatus code of the set-top box 2 and the apparatus code of the video tape recorder 3 are stored in the remote controller 4 of the set-top box 2. When the remote controller 4 establishes settings of a program to be reserved for video-recording and performs transmission, the remote controller 4 transmits a view reservation signal including the apparatus code of the set-top box 2 to the set-top box 2 and a video recording reservation signal including the apparatus code of the video tape recorder 3 to the video tape recorder 3.
