A method for updating profile information for executing an application in a mobile communication terminal is provided to integrate a system which manages information on different profiles for each company who provides a network service or for each service provided via an application program and to prevent usage of unnecessary network resources for adding or updating profile information. A method for updating profile information for executing an application in a mobile communication terminal comprises the following several steps. The mobile communication terminal performs a link initialization(S1). The mobile communication terminal gets provision setup information for communicating with a provision server(S2). The terminal sends a subscribe message to the provision server for notifying the provision server that the terminal itself can receive a provision service(S3). The provision server sends an unauthorized message to the terminal and requests authorization to the terminal for checking whether the terminal is a device whose usage is allowed(S4). In case that the provision server requests the authorization to the terminal, the terminal reconstructs a subscribe message and at the same time sends authorization information, requested by the provision server, e.g., a serial number given to the terminal or a secret code, to the provision server(S5). If the provision server confirms that the terminal can receive the provision service(S6), the terminal waits for occurrence of updating a profile from the provision server without sending a request message regarding whether the profile needs to be updated(S7). If the provision server sends the profile information to the terminal, the terminal sends an OK message to the provision server and one and more applications within the terminal maps profile information appropriate for the application themselves among the integrated profile information, and gets the appropriate profile information for setting up or updating profile information(S8).
