Implantable or insertable medical devices contain a substrate and one or more electrical circuits disposed over the substrate. The electrical circuits in the devices contain at least one multilayer region, which in turn contains (a) a plurality of polyelectrolyte layers which contain at least one type of polyelectrolyte and/or (b) a plurality of particle layers which contain at least one type of charged particle.
