Device (10) for holding a disc-shaped element (12b, 12c) in an electroplating bath, such as a matrix disc for manufacturing press matrices for optically-readable discs. The device comprises a sealed cavity (24) delimited between a flat base plate (26b, 26c) and a backing piece (16), which cavity can be connected to a vacuum source via a connector (42) in the backing piece (16) and which cavity is in communication with holes (28, 28a) arranged around the periphery and in the centre of the base plate that connect the said cavity (24) to the side of the disc element (12a-c) that is not to be plated. The connector (42) is arranged in such a way that when it is disconnected from the vacuum source, it maintains a requisite negative pressure for holding the disc element (12b, 12c) against the flat base plate (26b, 26c) during the plating process. |
