PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera which allows a manual correcting work of the direction of a telescope after mounting the camera on the telescope for collimated photographing. SOLUTION: The collimated photographing assisting method comprises a step of controlling an imaging device to continuously photograph in the process of mounting a lens holder on a camera adapter of a telescope, recognizing a picture in a view field circle of the telescope before mounting as a photographing object based on picture data stored successively in a memory, detecting the moving of at least the picture recognized as the photographing object in the view field circle of the telescope before mounting until mounting the telescope, obtaining the direction at the position of the object referred to the picture in the view field circle after mounting based on the moving detect result, and showing a direction-indicating mark superposed on the picture in the view field circle after mounting using a display.
