PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing rod stable in manipulation with the rear end of a rod pipe gripped, capable of preventing a butt stopper from getting loose due to butting on the rear end, and stably holdable even if standing against something. SOLUTION: The fishing rod is such that, in the butt stopper 19, a rotary component 193 rotatably inserted into the inner cylinder 191e of the butt stopper body 191 rotates around the axial direction of a rod pipe, wherein the rotational plane 194 butts on the body of a fisherman in making an actual fishing and rotates in response to a fishing manipulation, therefore the butt stopper 19 can be prevented from getting loose off the rod pipe during the fishing manipulation, and when the rotary component 193 rotates, the garment or the like of a fisherman is hardly bitten in between the rotary component 193 and an outside component 192, enabling a manipulation with the rear end of the butt stopper supported to be made easily. When the fishing rod 1 furnished with such a butt stopper 19 stands against a wall 20 and the ground 21, as the rotary component 193 does not butt on the ground 21, the fishing rod 1 can stably stand against the above objects.
