PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a telemeter system capable of gathering information in a shorter time than in a conventional system when the number of slave stations is large and efficiently transmitting the information, and to provide an information gathering method. SOLUTION: The system comprises a master station 10 and slave stations 20-1 to 20-n which use a radio communication circuit of a predetermined frequency in time division multiplex. The master station 10 is provided with an information requesting section 15 for broadcasting time slot information indicating a time slot used for returning the information gathered together with request information of information gathering for each of a plurality of slave stations, to the plurality of slave stations. The slave stations 20-1 to 20-n are each provided with a transmission control section 25 which arranges gathered information to a time slot corresponding to arrived time slot information when receiving the request information destined to its own station and transmits the information.
