PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize a position where a bottomed cylindrical body is held by a workpiece holding section so that the height of a thread formed on a metal bottle can is made constant. SOLUTION: The invention relates to a method for manufacturing the metal bottle can by forming the bottomed cylindrical body W with the bottom of the bottomed cylindrical body W held by a die ring 22. The method comprises a necking step and a threading step. In the necking step, a tapered portion and a mouthpiece portion are formed by diametrically shrinking the opening of the bottomed cylindrical body W. In the threading step, a thread is formed on the mouthpiece portion while at least either of the trunk or tapered portion of the bottomed cylindrical body W is pressed to the die ring 22.
