PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amplitude determination value setting method with which a decode error incidence can be suppressed even if a digital video signal is distorted by group delay and field strength reduction or the like in a transmission system. SOLUTION: The disclosed method includes: an amplitude determination value updating step of updating an amplitude determination value by performing arithmetic processing on an amplitude determination value so as to be closer to an ending value by a prescribed step value when an input signal is binarized and decoded for a prescribed period of time and the number of errors in decode data is counted; and an amplitude determination value selection step for selecting an amplitude determination value with the minimum number of errors as an optimal amplitude determination value from the number of errors at respective amplitude determination values acquired while changing the amplitude determination value by the prescribed step value from a starting value to an ending value.
