PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reel for a metal filament having large flange strength, by increasing welding joining strength of a winding drum part and a flange part, while eliminating a corner part, in a knockdown reel. SOLUTION: This reel 10 for the metal filament is constituted of the cylindrical winding drum part 1 and a pair of flanges 2 positioned on both ends of the winding drum part 1. The winding drum part 1 and the flanges 2 are separately manufactured by a steel material, and a thin part 1a is formed in both end parts of the winding drum part 1. Part of the flange parts is formed of an L-shaped member 2b having a cross section of an L shape. The respective L-shaped members 2b are fitted to the respective thin parts 1a of the winding drum part, and the inner peripheral edge of the respective L-shaped members 2b is welded (3) to the respective peripheral edges of the opposed thin parts 1a.
