METHOD FOR DETECTING GLYCOGEN BY MEANS OF FLUORESCENCE

Method for detecting glycogen by means of fluorescence based on the incorporation of a glucose fluorescent indicator into glycogen. The method may be performed on tissue homogenates or on live cells obtained from organs or cell cultures. It consists of various rapidly executed steps: 1) sample preparation; 2) fluorescent labelling of the glycogen; and 3) recording the fluorescence. The greater the intensity of the fluorescence, the higher the glycogen content. Applicable to the scientific/health field as a drug-evaluation method.
