<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reproducing device with excellent operability at the time of selecting contents to be reproduced. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 24 of this reproducing device 20 performs a STOP-key detection process by a periodical interruption process. In the STOP-key detection process, it is first determined whether or not a STOP-key is pressed (Step S31). When it is determined that the STOP-key is pressed (Step S31; Yes), it is next determined whether or not a folder in which a current cursor is located is a content hierarchy (Step S32). When the folder in which the current cursor P is located is the content hierarchy (Step S32; Yes), it is determined whether or not the content is being reproduced (Step S33). When it is determined that the content is being reproduced (Step S33; Yes), reproduction of the content is stopped (Step S34).
