PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for improving the security for the semiconductor memory and preventing illegal read or write of data. SOLUTION: An encryption command is inputted, the encryption command is decoded, and first address information is obtained while the semiconductor memory 2 operates in a first operating mode of high security. After the semiconductor memory 2 shifts to a second operation mode of lower security than the first operating mode, the command is inputted. From the command, second address information is obtained. A control circuit 22 of the semiconductor memory 2 generates a 10 bit address with the first address information as a high order 4 bit and the second address information as a low order 6 bit, and outputs it to a memory array 21.
