PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recommended program display device capable of identifying a person who views a program on a television receiver having a program recommendation function based on a past viewing history, and performing program recommendation according to his/her tastes and needs, when a plurality of users share the television receiver. SOLUTION: In order to determine a final recommended program, a candidate program group with priority is selected out of a past viewing history at first. Then, the final recommended program is determined by different methods, depending on whether a caption function is used or not at a digital television receiver. Namely, a program attached with a caption information is selected as the final recommended program when the caption function is active, or the final recommended program is determined according to priority in the candidate program group when the caption function is not active.
