A pet door comprising a frame having an aperture, a door flap pivotally mounted in the aperture, at least one locking mechanism including an electrically operable actuator for selectively locking the door flap, and a control unit which is adapted to operate the at least one locking mechanism, wherein the control unit is removably connected to the frame.
