<p>Base unit (2) for docking and securing a wheelchair (1) in a vehicle, which base unit is designed to be fixed to the floor of the vehicle and comprises a locking mechanism (11) for securing an engaging device (3) fixed to the wheelchair in such a way that it can be released. In order to achieve a butt fixing of the wheelchair, the base unit comprises at least one first support surface (20), facing away from the floor of the vehicle, that is arranged to make contact with a corresponding first support surface on the wheelchair in order to prevent the wheelchair from moving in the direction towards the floor of the vehicle when in the secured position.
