PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film magnetic head which surely performs writing only to a predetermined track without performing unwanted writing and erasure to adjacent tracks by an influence of a skew angle in heat assistant magnetic recording. SOLUTION: The thin film magnetic head comprises: a substrate with a medium facing surface and an element forming surface perpendicular to the medium facing surface; an electromagnetic coil element for writing a data having a magnetic pole tip reaching a head edge face on the medium facing surface side; and a near-field light generating part which has a generating edge reaching the head tip face on the medium facing surface side and heats a part of a magnetic disk to write into by generating the near-field light, and provided is the thin film magnetic head in which, as a configuration on the head tip face on the medium facing surface side, the generation edge is close to the magnetic pole edge and positioned on the leading side of the magnetic pole edge, and the center line perpendicular or almost perpendicular to the track width direction of the generation edge is off the center line perpendicular or almost perpendicular to the track width direction of the magnetic pole tip.
