A display device and a method for detaching a flexible printed circuit board are provided to make it possible to detach the flexible printed circuit board from a receiving container without damaging the flexible printed circuit board, by using an attaching material having an etch selectivity with respect to the flexible printed circuit board. A display panel(7) receives light and displays an image in response to a driving signal. A backlight assembly(11) supplies the light. A receiving container is composed of a bottom surface and a lateral surface extended from the bottom surface. The container receives the backlight assembly. A flexible printed circuit board(15) is attached onto a rear surface of the receiving container by an attaching member(19). The attaching member contains an attaching material having an etch selectivity with respect to the flexible printed circuit board.
