<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and accurately perform the initial adjustment of a control valve opened and closed by linearly reciprocating with a stepping motor used as a drive source. <P>SOLUTION: This control valve comprises a valve shaft 110 screwed with the rotor 130 of the stepping motor and reciprocating in the axial direction L only, a valve element 100 formed at the end of the valve shaft 110 and opening and closing a passage 3a, and a control means driving and controlling the stepping motor. When the control valve is initially adjusted, the control means sets a reference position by driving the stepping motor at a predetermined first torque until the valve element 100 abuts on a movement end 3b (or 150), departs it from the movement end by driving the stepping motor in the reverse direction at a predetermined second torque larger than the predetermined first torque, stops the driving when it reaches the position with the predetermined number of steps, and sets a standby position for the valve element.
