PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mass spectrograph and a mass spectrometric method capable of obtaining an MS<SP>n</SP>spectrum effective when analyzing structural information of a sample. SOLUTION: This mass spectrograph is provided with a sample separation means for separating the sample, an ionization means for ionizing the sample separated by the sample separation means, a selective dissociation means for selecting and dissociating a specified ion species out of ions generated by the ionization means, a means for analyzing mass-spectrometrically the ion species selected and dissociated by the selective dissociation means to acquire a mass-spectral data, an effectiveness determination means for determining the effectiveness of the acquired mass spectral data, based on the number and intensities of peaks included in the mass-spectral data, and a dissociation condition changing means for changing a dissociation condition of the ion species by the selective dissociation means, based on a determination result determined by the effectiveness determination means.
