PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To considerably reduce idling torque in a free state so that a retreating surface is set up to be a flat surface. SOLUTION: In a one-way clutch having a plurality of sprags 4 arranged in a ringlike space 3 formed between inner and outer raceway rings 1 and 2 along its circumference, its retainers 5 and 6, and a spring body 7 for urging the sprag 4 in a direction stood in the ringlike space 3, respective sprags 4 have cam surfaces 41 and 42 which keep in contact with the raceway rings 1 and 2, respectively, corresponding to its outer diameter side and inner diameter side. At least one cam surface 41 of both cam surfaces 41 and 42 has a curved surface 41a at a locked side and the retreating surface 41b retreated at the internal side of the sprag 4 rather than the virtual extension surface 41as of the curved surface 41a at its free side.
