PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contact pin and socket for electrical components that precisely abut on a desired position. SOLUTION: A body part 2 of the contact pin 1 is formed by spirally winding a high rigid wire rod. One end side of the body part 2 is formed in a reduced diameter portion 6 reducing diameter toward one end. The other end side is formed in a reduced diameter portion 10 reducing diameter toward the other end. Outer portion in the direction of an axis 12 among the peripheral portions of both end surfaces 3, 4 of the body part 2 is located on the axis 12 and formed as abutment portions 7, 11 to abut with the electrical components 21, 22. The contact pin 1 is arranged in a disposition hole 27 of an IC socket 20 and abuts with the electrical components, such as an IC chip group 21 or a wiring board 22 on the axis 12.
