<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new bisoxetane ether compound preparing a polymer having excellent thick membrane-forming properties, curability, heat resistance, etc., to provide a method for producing the compound and to provide an optical waveguide using the compound. <P>SOLUTION: Phenols are converted into a cesium phenolate with a cesium salt and then reacted with a sulfonic ester.
